THE FIRST FOUR
2020

The first satellites seen around Jupiter. Also called Galilean moons or Medicean stars, they are some of the largest objects in the solar system besides the planets and the sun.

Jupiter I; Io

The most volcanic world in the solar system. The liquidy subsurface constantly renews itself by filling in craters with molten lava.

Jupiter II; Europa

The planet’s ocean moon is supposed to harbor oceans of salt water beneath its icy crust. It may be spouting up some of that water soon.

Jupiter III; Ganymede

The largest moon in the whole solar system and he only one with a magnetic field. One that causes glowing auroras. Also very icy.

Jupiter IV; Callisto

Comets and asteroids have pummeled its ancient surface. More than a simple hunk of rock, frosty ice around the rings of its craters reveal its battle scars beautifully.
